5 terraces to enjoy the summer!

Despite the astronomical number of cafes and restaurants scattered throughout Tokyo, outdoor terraces are surprisingly rare. Perhaps this is because the Japanese are wary of the sun? Be that as it may, for us, summer means sunny terraces: discover 5 spots to fully enjoy the summer season!

Two rooms Grill&Bar – Omotesando

Located in Just fifteen minutes from our school, this chic and intimate lounge bar and restaurant offers breathtaking views of the city. Brunch and lunch menus are less expensive than the evening menu; you can also come for a drink at sunset to enjoy this unique atmosphere.

  • Address: 〒107-0061 Tokyo, Minato City, Kitaaoyama, 3 Chome−11−7 AO ビル 5F
  • Opening hours: Monday to Sunday from 11am to 9pm.

Starbucks Reserve Roastery – Nakameguro

This is the largest Starbucks in the world – no more, no less! The concept, however, is different from traditional Starbucks. Here, you can enjoy coffee roasted on-site using beans from all over the world! It's the perfect atmosphere for people looking to study (or chat!) in a calm and cozy setting.

  • Address: 2 Chome-19-23 Aobadai, Meguro City, Tokyo 153-0042
  • Opening hours: Sunday to Tuesday from 7am to 11pm and Wednesday to Saturday from 7am to 8pm.

Speaking of Starbucks: a special mention goes to the terrace at the Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku shopping center, located just a few minutes from the school. With music playing in the background, this tree-lined terrace is the perfect place to sip a drink while enjoying a bird's-eye view of Harajuku.

Royal Garden Cafe – Aoyama

It's not always easy to find greenery in big cities! Those who crave nature will undoubtedly appreciate the terrace of this cafe-restaurant, made entirely of wood and surrounded by trees and various plants.

  • Address: 2 Chome-1-19 Kitaaoyama, Minato City, Tokyo 107-0061
  • Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 11am to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 8pm.

Sky Hacienda – Daikanyama

In a capital city as dense as Tokyo, the best way to gain space is to go up high. This (Mexican) restaurant has a rooftop terrace with an absolutely magnificent view of the surrounding area.

Canal cafe – Kagurazaka

This is our favorite from this selection!

This bar/restaurant is located on the banks of the Kanda River, along the old Edo moat. The view is superb and the value for money is excellent. You can go there without hesitation (but that would be a shame)!

  • Address: 1-9 Kagurazaka, Shinjuku City, Tokyo 162-0825
  • Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 11:30 am to 9 pm
  • Website:  https://www.canalcafe.jp/
