Everything you need to know about Ghibli Park

Great news for Studio Ghibli fans! The famous Ghibli Park will open its doors on November 1st of this year. And for those of you who can't wait, tickets will go on sale in August! Find all the information about this new theme park here. in this article.

It's official: the very first Ghibli theme park, with areas designed to resemble locations from the iconic films of the famous animation studio, will open to the public at the end of the year. Built within the Aichi 2005 Memorial Park (near Nagoya), the site will open its first three areas in November:

  • Ghibli's Grand Warehouse, recreating the scenery of the mysterious town from "Spirited Away"«
  • Hill of Youth, reprising the antique settings of "Whisper of the Heart" and "The Kingdom of Cats"«
  • Dondoko Forest, which recreates the natural space of Satsuki and Mei's house from "My Neighbor Totoro".

Prices and ticketing

The Expo Park is a public space; therefore, entry to the park itself is free. However, each area of Ghibli Park will charge its own entrance fee.

  • Ghibli's Grand Warehouse ¥2,000 (children ¥1,000) on weekdays, ¥2,500 (children ¥1,250) on weekends and public holidays
  • Hill of Youth ¥1,000 (children ¥500) 
  • Dondoko Forest ¥1,000 (children ¥500) 

You can book your tickets from August onwards and will need to purchase them in advance via thethe ticketing website. You will need a separate ticket for each zone, and the ticket will be valid for a specific time slot. After the grand opening on November 1st, the park is expected to be open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekdays (excluding school holidays) and from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekends and public holidays. Please note that the park will be closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays). 

In 2023, two new areas will open. One focusing on the world of "Princess Mononoke" and the other on the worlds of "Howl's Moving Castle" and "Kiki's Delivery Service".
